Mini Retro Review: Throttle (2005) #badmovies

Throttle aka Park Evil
2005
Thriller

Another low-budget offering from the early to mid-2000s, Throttle has a strange premise but it's one that would have worked well, if it had 1 or 2 more main characters & the story had more going for it, yet the cast is limited to just 4 characters: the hubby, wife, the friend and the bad guy. Known as parking lots here in the UK, the term in the U.S is parking garage and here, a mysterious figure tries to run over the main character & all this takes place in a parking lot. Throttle plays out as a version of Steven Spielberg's ''The Duel'' & 1986's Maximum Overdrive and the main gripe I have with this film is it takes far too long for the tension to build up and the thrills to generate, which are also few and far between. I got so bored as it went on: if one is going to make a 90-minute movie out of a premise such as this, a lot of things have to happen throughout the duration to maintain one's attention. But alas, that is not the case here. When the film ramps up the tension, later on, it was too late. The action sequences & performances are straight- to- DVD-level, & yet they did not excite or enthuse me. This is a case where the idea sounds all right, but the execution and script let it down.

Is It Worth Watching?

Nah
